Philips TV 32PW6332/25 No Picture In Regular
Hi all
Need to pick your brains if I can.
I have a Philips 32inch 32pw6332/25 TV and in any other aspect mode other than Widescreen and Super zoom I get a blank screen with only sound, if I toggle with the remote back to "widescreen" or "super zoom" the picture comes back.
The chassis is an MD1.2E
The one's where the blue line tuning caps go short circuit, nice little money earner they used to be!
This is where it gets a bit technical, I have replaced the tube as the old one got air in from somware, Philips sent it to me free of charge due to a batch issue with these tubes so I was told.
The TV originally had a sound fault that was the amp chip went short circit across power pins hence TV would not power up.
I took TV to my work and repalced the audio chip but upon power up there was a flash inside the tube and the TV went dead, powered it up again and the sam happend, this is when we all agread that a seal on the CRT must of gone on transporting TV and tube is now full of air!
Anyway managed to get a brand new tube out of Phillips and send the faulty one back, for free.
However the problems did not end there, when new tube was fitted the TV would power up but not give any picture at all, sound was fine this is when I found duff transistors on tube base circuit board, so I replaced all of them (should of thought about them as 25 kv had to go someware) but still had no picture.
I then replaced the TDA8366 chip and at last a picture.
However if I flick though the size modes 4:3, Zoom 14x9, zoom 16x9, subtitle zoom, super zoom, widescreen, 4x3 subtitle only the "super zoom" and "widescreen" modes give me a picture the other 4 settings I get sound and a blank screen. blanking, ABL issue ??
Have now checked every diode and transistor on the signal proc board and main all are ok, so I am putting it down to another damaged chip somewhere or the 16k (27M16) eprom is full of crap data.
I have the proper Dealer Service Tool remote to get into service mode as well, this is showing no error codes.
I admit that 99.9% of the time it's in widescreen so not a problem but I want to make it all work as I am not too happy with it.
Can anyone offer any advise that may cause this??
Thanks

Try the sm transistor T7420 (BC848C) on the 16x9 panel.

Re: Phillips TV 32PW6332/25 No Pucture In Reg
Hi Thanks for the info.
I have removed and checked the transistors on the 16/9 module and transistor 7410 is open circuit so much so that warming it up for removal it was broken in half, Doh!
It was a surface mount with 3Fp markings, is it a BC857B ???
Thanks

Re: Phillips TV 32PW6332/25 No Pucture In Reg
Hi thanks
Will have a look for one tomorrow.
One more thing, the volume bar does not display when using remote (but volume works) when I press menu on on the top of TV I get the volume bar display.
Google'ed the above and every site siad press menu on tv till vol bar is there and then press "I" for 3 seconds, but I don't have a pure "I" button on the remote, have an I/II or (i+) and neither bring the display back, the remote is the original Philips model number RC 7535/01.
Any ideas?
Thanks

You're in luck as my own TV is the same model with the original remote RC7535/01.
I don't have the on-screen vol bar visible through choice but pressed menu on the set and the small i+ under the lift-up flap and held it down for 5 secs while the vol bar was on-screen...it then works for me using the vol on the remote.

Hi Jaycee
Thanks for all of your help with my poorly TV.

One step closer to 100% working.

Re: Phillips TV 32PW6332/25 No Puctire In Regular mode
Would you know what I could do about the 32PW9509 in that respect? If I have OSD set to Normal I cannot get rid of the icon at the top with the channel number, and if I have it at minimal it does not show the volume bar.
TIA!

That's normal behaviour...as I found out...so I've switched mine off again.
I can quite happily live without the vol on-screen graphic.
