Wireless Media Centre Player & Hdd Recorder In One?

Hi,

Anyone know if there is such a thing on the market? I have found a decent hdd recorder on ebuyer here:

Problem is it doesnt have wireless connectivity or ethernet connectivity. I have a wireless router sitting under my TV which I would like to connect it into and transfer recorded TV onto my PC to backup for future viewing.

I am also looking to purchase a Wireless Media Centre Player such as the one below:

This one is wireless, and also comes with ethernet to connect directly into my router. I can then transfer files back and forth wirelessly, and use it also as a storage device. Problem is - this one dont record TV.

Are there any devices out there that combine these features at a reasonable price? Basically a Wireless Media Centre Player with TV recording functionality.

The key functionality I am looking for - and would even be prepared to fork out for a media centre PC if it has this functionality is;

- Record and Pause Live TV from a Satelite Receiver
- Wireless Connectviity
- HD Out (DVI?) - I have a Sony KDL46W2000 to connect into.
- Large Hard drive (500gb+)
- Optical Out to hook into Surround Sound
- Be able to play video, photo, music from hdd.

I have looked and looked but cant find anything.!?

Also not sure if I can link my satelite box into this to record satelite TV. I'm sure my feed currently goes into my VCR, then onto Satelite box. This PC only has one Coax feed - so not sure if feed to Satelite to PC will work!?

Seems to do what I want with a large hdd - and much cheaper!

Really interested in this TIVX M-4100SH model. Cant work out if you need to but something extra to record live tv? has anyone got this unit - would really appreciate thoughts. Read on Amazon from a customer review that someone found it incompatible with some file formats.

Anyone know if it can do what im looking for????

There's already a thread on the TIVX 4000/4100 models.

TVIX M-4100SH Media HDD

Most say its good and will handle most formats. Yes it can be used as a PVR but you need to buy the seperate module, weather its any good is another matter.

Your probably better off building a HTPC.

IINM the digital tuner (extra) can record from Freeview but not from Satellite receiver. http://www.mpcclub.com has a good review of the model you're interested.

HTPC is Home Theater PC, its a PC but used for more for media. There are loads of threads on this, because its a PC it will play all files etc. I think you can use it to record NTL.

If your looking for a stand alone box to do evrything you want including recording NTL, then I don't think it exists.

Thanks for the tips....these HTPCs sound good - any threads in particular would get be started? Done some searches - but not sure where to start!

anyone know anything about this media centre pc? 'Seems' to have the functionality im after:

Suggests it records digital TV, and can be upgraded with a 500gb hdd! Anyone got one - does it also provide the functionality of a media centre for storing / playing video, pics and music tranferred over from the PC?
