bypassing speaker terminals

Hello.

I have a set of speakers which do not have gold plated terminals / binding posts or bus bars / jumpers. I have swapped the bus bars over for gold plated items, but im wondering what benefits are to be had (if any) from removing the speaker terminals / binding posts and hard wiring the speaker wire to the crossover.

Thanks
