HD-EP35 Manual available for download (also info about analog audio)
I've been told that the EP35 user manual is available on the Toshiba website. Hopefully this will help us answer a few more questions about how it works/ what it will do.
LINK (If you can't make the link work, head to http://tesc.toshiba.co.uk, & click on "Consumer Access". From the left hand menu, select "DVD" then "HD DVD" then the model you require. The EP30 manual is also available.
I was given this information by someone in the Customer Support Centre (0115 9766958).
I also asked about how the EP35 worked through the 5.1 channel analog audio outputs. Specifically, I wanted to find out whether the PCM was encoded from the full HD audio track, or just the "legacy" audio track. I was told:
DD+ & TrueHD - PCM from the enhanced audio track
DTS HD - PCM from the legacy audio track only.
So, the worst you'll get is DTS.
Good news, I think (unless the onboard processing of DD+ and TrueHD is rubbish )

Brilliant - thanks for this. Strangely enough, I was looking at the Tosh website earlier today for the manual, but couldn't find it.

No. Assuming that your amp has an analog passthrough option (ie the signal from the analog inputs will pass through the processor and only be amplified, it means that DTS is the worst you'll get.
If the DVD has DD+ or TrueHD the EP35 will process the full HD audio soundtrack and send it down the analog connections to your amp

Yep HDMI out the box, so thats 7 free HD DVD's @ say a £105 value, an HDMI lead at another £25, makes this a no brainer.

£25 for an HDMI lead? The 4 I use didn't cost that in total... 1 free from Virgin, 2 for £5 from Lidl and one for about £8 from SVP

i do not compromise quality on cables.Infact I would say that £25 is quite cheap on a HDMI cable at 2m
