Sky Internet Keeps Going Off !!!!!!!!

I've been fairly problem free with Sky BB, in till yesterday, basically it just keeps going off. Happens a couple of times a day for about 30 minutes each time, totally not acceptable.

When I connect to the router when this happens all things such as IP Address, DownStream, Upstream etc.... They have all disappeared , I presume this is because it's disconnected from the exchange.

I'm on Sky Max and this has never happened in till recently. I'm using the big standard router you get from Sky (netgear).

Any Help?

Thanks

When it goes off, by-pass your router (it might be knackered)

Re: Sky Internet Keeps Going Off !!!!!!!!

So I ring up Sky and they tell me there is a problem with my exchange, erm.... I've heard that before, except it was a lie. Last time this happened it was a problem with my BT box.

So I ring up BT and get them to do a complete line test, took around 15 minutes. They said there are absolutely no problems on my line or my exchange, but what, does that not conflict with what Sky are saying?

So I get back on the phone to them only to be told to be patient, the F&*#*ng T&*#s.

So who am I meant to believe? Someone who took 2 minutes to do a test or someone that took 15? I don't trust Sky to begin with, I honestly believe there just saying rubbish to get me off the line.

Any thoughts on what I can do?

Thanks

Re: Sky Internet Keeps Going Off !!!!!!!!

at the exchange there are two different parts the telephone and the broadband part, if BT run a test on your line and say it is fine and there are no problems at your exchange, it s prob true as the phone line has a different frequency to the broadband.
if your on max package then your using skys equipment within the BT exchange therefore BT cant run tests on this, if sky run a test which means checking your exchange code with the status page which is being constantly updated which takes about 30 seconds.
there may be an exchange outage there.

Well I'm still having the problem, it's a joke. They refuse to help me on the phone because it's the exchange that's the issue.

**** TAKE !

Re: Sky Internet Keeps Going Off !!!!!!!!

Mine has been doing this for nearly a year now. It does it about once a month, and then it'll be OK for 3 or 4 weeks. Gave up trying to get it sorted, as i was spending hours on the phone with idiots. EG: Have you got the yellow cable pugged in. No, I already had an ethernet cable in my PC (for my last router), so just plugged that into the sky router. Sorry sir, your router will only work with the yellow cable!! Yeah, alright, whatever ...
