Cable connections - help please

I have a JVC 32AV25REKS TV with three SCART Skts, A Sky PACE box (2 SCART skts), a JVC HR-J695 VCR (2 SCART skts) and a BUSH DVD player (1 SCART skt).

Currently I have 3 Fully wired SCART leads connecting as follows:
VCR to Skybox
Skybox to TV (RGB SCART skt 1)
DVD to TV (SCART skt 2)

I have a spare SCART lead but it isn't fully wired.

Using the above how can I get the best set-up?

Idealy you want DVD>RGB have you 2 or 1 RGB scarts, If one then you will probably need a scart splitter. How often do you Record sky?
DVD>SKY>RGB
VCR>SCART
Or If your VCR does RGB Pass through, I think most willl only do composite.
DVD>VCR>SKY>RGB

I'll give it try.

Currently I have set it to:

EXT 2 >> Video 1
Video 2 >> Sky 2
SKY 1 >> EXT 1
DVD >> EXT 3

It all works except auto-record from SKY as I am stuck over what the set up means by SAT PROG value 1 - 999?

The TV SCARTS are described as follows:

Ext1 = Video input, Audio L/R inputs and RGB inputs
TV broadcast outputs (Video and Audio L/R)

Ext2 = Video input, S-Video (Y/C) input and Audio L/R inputs
Video and Audio L/R outputs
TV LINK functions

Ext3 = Video input, S-Video (Y/C) input and Audio L/R inputs

Ext4= RCA Connectorts x 2
Variable audio L/R outputs
Variable out 0-1 Vrms, low impedance

Have you got the DVD set to S-vid?
As regards the sat recording try posting in the sat forum listing the problem and the kit you are using. I don't use sat so its a bit hard for me to answer

Hi thanks for all the good advice.

I took the VCR back to the seller and replaced it with a Panasonic S-VHS.

Cabled up as before with a new SCART cable for the DVD and everything now wortks OK, including having the system record automatically when the sky box automatically turns on and switches channels.

Quality of the VCR is much better.

Does your Sky STB output S-Video to your VCR?

If not, then you won't be getting the best recordings from your STB.
I purchased and 'RGB to S-video' converter and it made ALL the difference. MUCH better quality recordings from my Pace cable stb.

BTW, although an SVHS VCR is obviously a better choice over VHS, you may have complicated your wiring set up no end.

That is....IF your STB doesn't have S-Video out and you DO want to record the way I described above (which I highly recommend and am sure others will agree).

I had to buy an amplified SCART splitter to split the outcoming RGB from my STB. One then goes to the TV and the other goes to the converter which then goes to my SVHS VCR!

I'm now in a similar dilemna where I want to purchase a freeview stb/adaptor, but am holding off for the simple reason that NONE offer RGB AND S-Video out. I can't go back to recording to composite on SVHS and am unwilling to buy ANOTHER converter and splitter!
