toshiba hdep10 or hdep30
Can anyone tell me why the Toshiba hdep10 is more expensive than the Toshiba hdep30 as the ep30 has hdmi 1.3 and regza link.
Ive asked a few people and no one can give me a answer.

The EP30 hasn't been released yet, should be released on the 2nd November I believe. When the EP30 & EP35 are released I'm pretty sure the E1 and E10 will be heavily discounted.

Re: toshiba hdep10 or hdep30
The HD-EP10 belongs to Toshibas 2nd generation of players, while the imminent HD-EP30 will form part of their 3rd generation range.
It's likely that the 3rd generation players will use better integrated electronics, making them cheaper to manufacturer (given high enough volume of sales).

You will only get Converted PCM HD audio through analogue connection if you purchased the EP35 and not the EP30.

Re: toshiba hdep10 or hdep30
The EP10's looking pretty appealing to me at that price - particularly as it can be made region free-ish (see other thread) for DVD which the EP30 can't yet.
Can anyone give me any reason why the EP10 won't perform just as well as the EP30? Is there known superior up-scaling tech in there?
The Americans seem to be falling on the $99 A2 equivalents with no problems...

I know the EP30 & 35 use an Anchor Bay video processor, whether that is different or superior to the EP10 I'm not sure but I would buy the newer model if nothing else for second hand value when it's time to sell on.

I am not 100% sure but think the third gen models have a faster response time. Ep10 is second gen.

Does the EP30 have deep colour function? (HDMI 1.3)
I've been unable to clarify that from the details on Toshiba's website. I have downloaded the manual for the EP35 which does have 1.3, but can't find a link anywhere for a manual for the EP30.

Yes
Edit - Well I say yes but notice on Toshiba website while both are specified as 1.3, only 35 has 'with deep colour function' written afterwards

Re: toshiba hdep10 or hdep30
EP10 = A20 in States I think ?
= Anchor Bay
EC EMMA3 / 10-bit Anchor Bay Technologies' ABT1018 VRS
if it is the equivalent of a A20 ... and you can make it multi-region -ish, nad you get 5 HD-DVds ..
no brainer ?
Mark.
