I believe the difference is that the A version can stream DTS-HD & Dolby True HD via Bitstream.

Re: Pioneer LX70 or LX70A

yes you are right about the "A" outputting trued hd via bitstream, only wish i,d done a bit more homework before buying the standard lx70 oh well we learn from our mistakes!!!

i hope maybe pio will release a firmware to sort this out but i think its more hardware processing than software!

Bitstream output is only availible via HDMI so unfortunately the big Denon does not have this option, but you will be able to get the HD formats via the 5.1 inputs from the Pioneer to the amp...the A1SR is a great bit of kit so i would enjoy it via the ext inputs for the time being but atleast you know you will be able to get the Bitstream output when the time comes to change the amp over !

Does the Denon have 2 sets of 5.1 inputs ? if it does not then you will have to atleast use one of the Coax/SPDIF inputs, but certainly worth trying.

Not too sure about the problems you describe ref to Blu-ray players, my sony plays perfectly.

At present there are NO profile 1.1 players availible but the Pioneer will most certainly be one of the better players out there.
