advice for multitoom system

hi all.
i need some advice, a friend of mine is doing up a pub.

he wants to have music in main bar, upstairs room, and toilets.

also wants to be able to turn off music upstairs, while downstairs remains on etc..

i suggested 1 amp for downstairs with 2 outputs (no toilets) to power 2 sets of speakers in main room.

1 amp for upstairs with 2 outputs, 1 to power a pair of speakers in room, and other set split between ladies/gents (mono as only for toilets) theese would be on a switch to enable room off/toilets on etc..

also for actual music imput rather than cd player, ipod based system or similar?? lot less hassle than burning/changing cd's all the time.

any imput would be much appreciated as maybe there's a better solution im not thinking of?

thanks in advance..

jim

Re: advice for multitoom system

for an ultra cheap solution you could just use a speaker switch box for like £30. Which would turn 1 stereo input into 5 or more stereo outputs. These can all be switched on and off as you wish.

Of course this means that the same source would have to be playing from all the speakers. You also have no control over the independant volume of each set of speakers so the ones in the toilets may be to loud. I believe that this would also be an issue for a amp with A & B Speaker outs anyway.

The main thing is running the speaker cable once this has been done your equipment and speakers can always be changed / upgraded.

You could buy one of these though to solve the volume problem.

the speaker control is a nice touch, i will be using a speaker switch anyway, and just order'd 2 ipod stylee' mp3 players for music content.

Just make sure he has the right licences for digitally stored music, think its £400 on top of his normal PRS (from memory).

Dupe...
