Is this bass respone curve good or bad ? PC Ultra in garage & help with REW

Per title, good, bad or indifferent ?

SVS PC Ultra with two bungs in 12HZ tune, and a bit of fiddling with the onboard PEQ.

And sorry to ask a stupid question, but am I just trying to get the red line as close to the blue one as I can up to 80HZ ?

Re: Is this bass respone curve good or bad ? PC Ultra in garage

You're looking for the line to be the same shape as the blue line, assuming that's the curve you want.

That's not too shabby, IMO
Great for all action movies, but maybe not quite so good for everyday telly.
Depends what you like.
I had similar dips in the mid 70's, same as you and couldn't live with it.
I'm not denegrating the Ultra, mind, it's supremely deep and speedy, IMO

General question:
Why is it most Ultra curves show a climb at the bottom end? I find that strange

never watch tv in the cinema room tbh, just movies mainly involving explosions and gunfire !

or a bit of comedy or graphics based stuff like ice age etc.

How will that impact on the general sound experience, only I've got a BFD here and I'm wondering if that will help restore the missing stuff around the 70's

Dunno, (again!) maybe as I've got two bungs in and the oil drum set to 12HZ ?

Apparently that's a bad move from what I've read, as it takes too much off the top end.
The opinion seems to be one bung and 16hz, I think.

As I said it's not a bad curve, IMO, I just prefer mine a bit flatter up to the 70-80 hz region for everyday stuff.
Totally subjective though and if you like the sound, that's good enough.

Good question, I tried boosting and although I'm a gambler and was told not too, it didn't work.
So you'll have to cut all the way up to 48ish, then turn the sub gain up to compensate.

Not ideal, IMO (although this may be argued by others), but it's all trial and error.

A curve is how you look at it:

Re: Is this bass respone curve good or bad ? PC Ultra in garage

I would try running a sweep with the main speakers on and see if it fills in your 70s gash a bit. Fiddling with the phase may help.

If not turn the speakers off again (and the EQ) and try moving the sub around a bit, sometimes even inches can help. Filling in that gap is your priority as it is easier to cut a peak or two if you have to, boosting just takes a lot out of the amp so if you can avoid it do.

I am a bit greedy so a house curve suits me better. More or less the shape you have but a steady increse at the bottom end.

Interesting, I see the link in the E-mail I got, but then it's not in your actual post.
So I go to quote you and the link is there again, but doesn't work

Weird??????????

Anyway, having a guess, was it a ski slope curve?

A man after my own heart - that's what home cinemas and subs are for

Re: Is this bass respone curve good or bad ? PC Ultra in garage

I merely redrew your target curve but a few dB lower.

I can see my original image and also in your quote.

Can anybody else?
