Why did Sky bother airing Hidden Palms, not only on Sky One SD, but HD aswell (in HD and DD).
The show was cancelled after 8 episodes in the US I found out today.
What had me curious was, as the show airs every Thursday, with a double episode from 9-11pm, that this week, TopGun was there in it's place.
I then did some research into the show, and found that it was cancelled after 8 episodes in the US.
Episodes 2 and 3 are however showing on Sky Two Friday, but as with last week, these are the repeat episodes incase anyone missed the original airing on Thursday (which aren't airing according to Sky EPG).
Did Sky make a big booboo with this one thinking it was going to be a major hit?
Surely they must have known it was cancelled so early in the US?
I actually decided to start watching it, because it was in HD, with the first two episodes being 'OK', so I'm a bit annoyed that Sky began airing a series which was cut after 8 episodes :suicide:

Many shows are bought long before they are aired in the US based on previews/pilots and market research done by the US studio/distributor, it's almost an art to pick a show that will succeed in the US market and since many are cancelled very early even the studios themselves screw up:)
As for Hidden Palms I suspect SKY bought early at a decent price (like V1 did for Terminator and ITV have for Pushing Daises etc) and only time will tell if they were a good buy. Of course now SKY have the content in their vaults and publicised so they might as well god ahead with it, if they don't then they have to use existing screening rights for other programming or buy new stuff for the timeslot.
It's always handy to do a little homework on any new show but at the end of the day if you enjoyed the 8 eps then accept it for what it was not be annoyed about what you didn't get after all from what I have read the first season was always intended to be a short run with an intended finale as opposed to just stopping dead like Drive did.
As for moving it from SKY1 and HD well they did that for Stand Off as well, bit of a mystery why after HD content is still sparse on SKY1HD.

Silver Serpent,
For info - episode 3 is now showing on SKY One HD on Sunday, at 3pm. My series link picked it up automatically........
Like you said, the first 2 episodes were OK, so I'll probably continue watching it, especially as the HD picture was excellent, and some of the "scenery" quite pleasant ;)

Thanks for that. I was going to watch episode 3 on Sky Two Friday night, but i'll wait until Sunday now to see it in HD.
I also notice Sky are not showing back to back episodes anymore, obviously due to the fact that there are only 8 episodes and they can stretch it out until almost Christmas.....
Shame they cut the series, but perhaps the quality of the next few episodes may explain why...
We'll have to wait and see.
Tru Calling was cut midway through the second series, but I fully understand why as the acting, and some of the scenes were just terrible.

And so it ends.........
I thought the Series was OK, and there was definite room for improvement there.

For what its worth, I quite enjoyed it.
I've seen far worse US series, that have been dragged out to far longer, more pointless conclusions.
8 episodes was about right, and they wrapped it all up rather than leaving it in mid air.
