Im going to replace my old (about 7 years old) Sony cassette player in my car. And I dont have them extractor keys. Are they any "universal" extractor keys that I can buy?
What shall I do ?
(b.t.w I have bought all my equiptment over the net saving me about £80, but I need to install it myself)

Leave the stearing wheel lock and car alarm off you'll be suprise how quickly some friendly soul will extract it for you :p

Either pop along to your nearest Ice instaler - most are pretty friendly and will give you a set to either borrow or keep to extract said head unit out - they always have loads lying around or failing that off to Halfords to the ice dept` they do all sorts of extractor keys - a couple of quid should see you right ;)

I went to halfords and asked one of the guys in the workshop if i could borrow a set of keys, he wasn't sure if her could lend them out, so brought them out and did the job for me instead:grin:
Bare faced cheek often works.

Most can either be extracted by "making" the keys, coat hangers ( the metal ones ) or simple things such as alan kings do the job on most systems

It was the one in my rover, it came with a sony head unit & changer, but it died a week after buying the car. The mini one comes out quite easily, all you need is a bit of gas, and a speedbump:grin:

If it is a old head unit then a good thing to use is long thin kebab sticks, any thing thin enough will work.
Newer units oftern use the flat tools.
Once the head unit is partialy out then you disconnect the arial and the standard ISO block.

I used paper clips to extract mine.
Just bought an Alpine head unit and was told that they dont use any kind of security. You can get the unit out with a ball point pen. Nice and secure!!!

all stereos are easily removed :D.. apart from the standard punto ones which are a nightmare to the untrained eye. oh and all the jap car that insist on have 20million bolts holding them in :D
