Satelitte Recommendations - Free to Air?? Freeview??

I've had a complete gutfull of Sky Digital :mad: :mad: :mad:

Will be cancelling as soon as I can replace with something else. I've been down the Cable digital route, they are worse!!!

Has anyone got any links that will push me in the right direction of what I need or should be going for.

Will buying a satelitte dish and receiver give me many more english speaking channels than normal FreeView????

Can you get the likes of E4 going down this route????

Not sure about E4, but if you've had sky digital for about a year, I think you'll get the free to air channels with the Sky card.
Or you could call the Beeb for the fta sky digital card.

Or buy a freeview box. Cheaper than buying a dish and stb - but less intetresting if you plan to make it a hobby - motorised dish, dual lnb etc.

I suspect you are really discussing "Free To View" for which you need a Sky Digital box and a "FTV" card or a Sky card. "Free To Air" means exactly that. No card required. E4 is not FTV.

And may I politely point towards the top of this screen where it says "Digital TV, Satellite and Cable".

Yes, that's how you should spell "satellite".

I mention this because a Google search for "satelitte" pulls up a lot less information than a search for the correct word, so you may find it useful to remember it.

You keep the Sky dish and receiver if your cancellation is accepted by BskyB. It all belongs to you and you may keep it or sell it. I suspect that BskyB would prefer you to sell it because the buyer might want to subscribe.

A Sky Digibox and FTV card will get you a LOT more English speaking channels than Freeview will. However, the actual programme content of the majority may not be as interesting. Depends how keen you are on Religion, Travel, news, shopping ...

What I was actually getting at is, do I buy a third party type of SATELLITE dish and receiver (you know the sort that mostly transmits the highest quality porn!!!) or shall I keep my sky box with FTA or just go for freeview??

As you can probably tell, I don't have a scooby as to what I'm talking about so all the advice and recommendations are much appreciated.

I basically want as many half decent channels as possible with as little outlay as possible (BBC Choice, Discovery Home & Leisure etc).

Where can I get a list of Sky free to view ????

Might i suggest satalogue (http://www.satalogue.com/) never used them but heard good reports, there are loads of sites. do a Google (http://www.google.co.uk/) search for hotbird or satellite TV.

I suggest you keep your existing sky equipment. Your existing card will become a FTV card once sky cancel your account. There will be no point requesting a BBC card.

This is a zero cost option and will give you loads of channels all with the high quality that you are used to.
