From the director of Ichi the Killer and 73 other films
Set during "The Genpei Wars" at the end of the 1100s, the Minamoto and Taira gangs face off in a town named Yuda, while a deadly gunman (Ito Hideaki) comes to the aid of the townsfolk.

After having the misfortune of paying to see Izo I've been a bit down on Miike. I enjoyed the DOAs, Ichi etc but Izo was the biggest bowl of tripe I've ever paid to see, and I paid to see Supernova. I'll watch this but I have no expectations.
just watched the trailer and it has Tarantino in it Nothing lifts a film like a performance by the Tarantula.

That does look different. Apart from Ichi, I don't like his films. I tried watching Gozu and just thought what the hell is going on all the way through it.

I paid £20 for a Dutch version of Ichi uncut
Still leaves me feeling indifferent to this day. In some parts I like the stylistic choices made. In other parts I am thinking "I need to IMDB to find out if this was a Z film"
I have an open mind on this film in the OP then

You really should check out Akira Kurosawa's masterpieces Seven Samurai (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047478/) and Yojimbo (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055630/) Razor
Without these two films alone there would be no
Magnificent Seven
A Fistful of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More
The Good,The Bad and The Ugly
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Pale Rider
High Plains Drifter
Unforgiven
to name just a few classic westerns that were either remakes of the Kurosawa films or a result of the legacy of influence, there are definately many, many more, and the western as we now know it would be very, very different without these 2 films.
