HDMi cable advice
Newbie alert
I've got the following being delivered this week and I was just wondering if two HDMi cables are sufficient? Eg: TV to DVD and then DVD to AV? Is this all I'll need?
TV: Sony KDL-40D3000
Home Cinema System: Sony HT-SF1100
DVD Recorder: Sony RDR-HXD970B
Many thanks in advance!

Re: HDMi cable advice
For the Home Cinema System do you mean the HT-SF1100?
If so, you would need 2 HDMI cables.
1 from DVD player to the all in one, and then one from the all in one to the TV.

If its the HT-SF1100 you will also need an optical cable to go from your DVD player to the HTSF1100, as the HTSF1100 does not do audio over HDMI.

Re: HDMi cable advice
I'm back again!
So, I can't for the life of me get this right *sigh*
At the moment I've got:
TV to DVD via HDMi
DVD to AV via digital COAX
Have I got it completely wrong? Is there a better way?!
Please help

Re: HDMi cable advice
Yes that would be right.
The only better way than Digital Coax would be sound through HDMI which your HTSF1100 can't do.
You could try an Optical cable if there is a problem with the Coax but it basically is the exact same type of connection.

Re: HDMi cable advice
Hello LouiseUK
You have a few options - all will work though the functionality will vary depending on how you choose to connect things up.
Your AV Receiver (HT-SF1100) can act as a 2x1 HDMI switch - though this requires that the HT-SF1100 is always active.
You may prefer to wire your HDMI equipped Sources (up to three Sources) Direct to the HDMI Inputs on the TV as then you can view and listen to the Sources (using the TV speakers) without the AV Receiver always having to be on.
Option 01.
RDR-HXD970B
Digital Video - HDMI>HDMI to HT-SF1100
Digital 5.1 Audio - RCA>RCA - to HT-SF1100
HT-SF1100
Digital Video - HDMI>HDMI to KDL-40D3000
Option 02.
RDR-HXD970B
Digital Video + Stereo audio - HDMI>HDMI to KDL-40D3000
Digital 5.1 Audio - RCA>RCA - to HT-SF1100
