But Kirsten Dunst with red hair compensates somewhat

He is Spider-man to me. I can't see anyone else being better.

I agree with both posts above, especially Kirsten Dunst

I think I like him as spiderman for the, shy, confused, geeky kid before it all happened.

Yes others can play the part, but i think most people want spidey to be played by a better looking buff, why cant a some-what geek be bitten and have the abilities. I like the fact at times he gets easily beaten and thrown around as spidey because of his lesser body frame.

Think Toby just the right he’s not suppose to be huge powers come from the bite not because he originally was muscle bound.

Looks like am eth only one that thinks MJ was wrongly cast she suppose to be a drop dead gorgeous glamour model type not what I call Kirsten.

MJ (Kirsten) was stunning in the first movie and definitely looked the part (especially THAT scene!), she was still just as fine in the second, but seems to have gone downhill for the third and was upstaged by the beauty of Bryce Dallas Howard.

Garrett I want to see her Bettie Page alike pics that I've seen else where. That would be well brilliant. In fact if anyone has Bettie Page pics they could post I'd be well chuffed.

All the best

I think Toby Maguire has played it well, his build and looks fairly similar to the comics, my only gripe would be the character has been made over clumsy and weak minded compared to Peter Parkers character in the comics.
Mary Jane as mentioned was a very model like and curvaceous unlike the girl next door look played by Kirsten Dunst

Don't get me started, Toby Maguire hasn't been right from the beginning. This is coming from someone who used to read a lot of Spidey comics when he was younger. The Peter Parker he portrays is a nerd, and yes he is a nerd in the comics, however when he is Spider-Man the charm that is meant to be there is non-existant.

Having seen Spider-Man 3 recently made up my mind on this, he is just wrong for the part all over. Even when he becomes 'bad' I couldn't take him seriously, contrast that to the way Christopher Reeves handled the bad Man of Steel in Superman III. I really hope if there is a next film that they choose a different actor, however Dunst can stay!

I can remember reading in a satellite magazine must be about 15 years ago that James Cameron was making Spiderman and Biehn was gonna be in the tights. Being a massive fan of "The Terminator" James Cameron and Michael Biehn I was so excited for it but obviously it never got past the script stage.
I'm gald they kept the organic web-shooters.

Maguire is fine as Parker and I like the way he gets thrown about like a rag doll and has to use his powers to counter act this. Dunst was good in SM1 but was too dowdy in SM 2 and 3 imo, doesn't help that I don't like gingers.

I didn't find him witty enough in the films. Which in the comics is one of his best attributes.
