20+4pin in asus 8av motherboard

Hi all im am toying with the idea of buying a new psu my motherboard (asus 8av) now that motherboard 20pin but the new psu has 20+4 pin will this psu work fine with this board ?

The extra 4 pin section of the mobo power supply is normally detachable from the 20 pin section. Therefore a new PSU should work with old & new mobo's with no problem.

cheers mark so what your saying is that the extra 4 pin is just left idle do you know if that spare 4 pin would need to go in my other pin socket on the other side of my board 4 pin(12v) or just left cheers bud

There should be another dedicated 4 pin power plug for use on the other side of the mobo. The connector you remove from the side of the 20 pin power is just left unused.
