htpc graphics ard help.
Hi,
I have a 360 hd dvd drive and a htpc, now curently my 7800gt is not upto decoding hddvds, and its also not hdcp complient..
What I would like is a recommendation for something that can decode these movies so I can watch them at 24 fps and is also hdcp complient..
My current machine is consisiting of
p4 3.2
2gb ram
xfi fatality sondcard (will this help with movies?)
Running xp
I dotn really play pc games any more either so I dont need anything to powerful. Plus when I do go round someones I can slip back inmy 7800.
Thanks
Para

Re: htpc graphics ard help.
Your card should be fine for decoding HD material, use powerdvd 7.3. As for HDCP use a program called AnyDVD this gets round the HDCP issue.

Re: htpc graphics ard help.
Thanks for that I will have a look.
The only issue is that hd dvd material comes up very jerky adn the processor is 100%.
I thought newer cards had onboard soloutions to deal with hd material?? Effectivly freeing up the processor!

Re: htpc graphics ard help.
I have heard that the 8400 and 8600 range are very good and have onboard decoding taking the strain of the processor.

Your cpu is doing all the decoding and not your graphics card. There should be an option for hardware acceleration in powerdvd under the video options. Tick this and away you go.
Your card is more than powerful enough to decode HD. You dont need a new graphics card.
