Question QED XT cable - stripping it back to connect to a speaker

When I strip back the QED cable there is the outer sheath, then what looks like meshed fine strands & then I have the red or white in the middle. Now do I cut off the rest of the cable apart from the inner red or white & then strip the red or white & put this into the speaker hole ?

I have done a search & cant find any specific question like I am asking so would appreciate the help to clarify how to connect the XT cable to the speaker & the amp.

Cheers Andy.

The silver mesh is the speaker cable

(don't worry you're not the first to be baffled)
