Re: what screen size do you recommend at 11ft seating distance
i have a 4meter long room (just over 13ft) setee will be about 9ft from screen max and i plan on going 120"
get a tape measure out and put it to the wall for how big your screen will be

talk about being inside the movie experience
I might think of going 92" if att all possible.
I am a bitscared thou that it will just look to big and it will ruin it.
would be nice to hear from people who have a smiliar size screen that I am thinking of getting at around 10ft-11ft

Re: what screen size do you recommend at 11ft seating distance
I'm about that far back from my screen (well, 3 metres) and view on a 90" screen. I suspect about that size for you, or slightly smaller. I think you (and the poster above) will regret 120". Too big for that size room, you'll have to move your head to take it all in, and that soon gets tiring, plus it takes your attention from the movie, which, afterall, is what it's all about

Have a look at this Viewing Distcance Calculator for someinteresting data!
http://www.myhometheater.homestead.c...alculator.html
It suggexts that for a viewing distance of 11 feet your recommended screen size to achieve the recommended THX viewing angle of 36 degrees your screen needs to be 98.4" diagonal. Or to achieve the more reasonable SMPTE viewing angle of 30 degrees your screen should be 81.2" Diagonal

Re: what screen size do you recommend at 11ft seating distance
why not try the projector out with just bare wall (or a sheet trigged up) just to get an idea before you buy the screen.

Re: what screen size do you recommend at 11ft seating distance
Thanks for that link Tyler Durden. I just discovered that at just over 13 feet viewing distance, my 120" screen is exactly at the THX 36 degree viewing angle...shear fluke.

That's what I have in my basement. I do like to sit close though (7.5' = 1.25 x 6' screen width).

Does anyone know whether pukkah cinemas adhere to this recommendation or not?
It's just that when I go to the cinema the screen seems to take up much more of my line of sight than watching 50" non projector screen at a close but comfortable distance. Curious because I may look to a projector as a next upgrade but was concerned about getting the right impact.

Re: what screen size do you recommend at 11ft seating distance
I sit at 9.5ft and have 80" and is perfect. I think 92" at 11ft would be a good choice.

Is that a diagonal measurement? I ask as that is the exact distance i will be sitting from my screen, when i have decided which PJ to get.

Re: what screen size do you recommend at 11ft seating distance
80 will definitely not be too big, I'm about 9 feet from an 80 and thats fine. my sister sits 11 feet from her 100 and that looks good as well. I think the easiest way is to set up the projector, then blow the size on the bare wall to a size you're happy with. Then get the screen to suit the size you're happy with. I bet you'll be fine with the 92, you might even want to go bigger!
