Wide Angle Projector

My SharpVision 201e bulb has just died on me. (900 hours use only)

I think i will upgrade now...

What gives me the shortest throw to screen size ratio out of the current crop of HD Projectors. I want to spend between 1 and 2k.

My room only gives me about 3.5 meters throw, my screen is 92 inch.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Jonas

Re: Wide Angle Projector

Hi.

I have a BenQ PE 8720 projector which i may be soon selling as part of my upgrade. Im not entirely sure that the throw rate fits a 92" screen from 3.5m but if you check the BenQ website and see if its suitable then i will list with a price

Re: Wide Angle Projector

Hi JONAS,
I'm not up to speed on all the projectors available in todays market but I have been trying both the Optoma HD70 and the HD73 against each other. The HD73 is excellent. I cant fault it (I can't fault the HD70 either). Both the he HD70 and the HD73 give me a 92" image at about 3m away. The Optoma distance calculator measures a Minimum distance of 10.56 Feet to a Maximum distance of 12.7 Feet away from the screen to get a 92" diagonal image. (Minimum 3.22m to a Maximum 3.87 Metres).

Hope this helps.

Re: Wide Angle Projector

Hi Jonas,

The Hitachi PJ-TX300, Sanyo PLV-Z5 and the new Sony VPL-AW10 and AW15 will do the job as will the Mitsubishi HC5000 towards the upper end of your budget if you want 1080P.

Re: Wide Angle Projector

Strange to see another Jonas around on the forums. Personally I would look at the HD73.
