Regrets on buying a UK ps3 ?
Hi Guys.
Just come off e-bay £330 lighter and a brand new PS3 should be with me by wednesday.
Went on to Play HD to look at all titles and region A appears to outstrip uk titles by 5/1. Guess I should have checked that out beforehand.
Anyone know if there is a complete list of region B titles amd Region A titles that can be used on region 1 machines.
At this moment in time im thinking of relisting it to get a region A machine

Thanks guys thats excellent news. Its a keeper after all.
On another matter I have no idea which firmware it will come with. Can you tell me which update installs the 1080/24 direct output and where I can get it. ( I assume it works !)

Re: Regrets on buying a UK ps3 ?
Sure that helps but if it was primarily a blu-ray player you were after then I think you would have been much better off getting a region-A compatible player. Might be worth selling it on while you can without making too much of a loss (if any), a price cut is inevitable so I'd recommend selling it on sooner rather than later. With the recent price cut in the US you can get one easily for what you'll get from selling the UK one.

Its 1.8, but 1.9 is now out which i believe installs all the previous upgrades as well. When you get it plug it into the internet or connect via wireless, it has an inbuilt wireless receiver, it will tell you that you need to update; just follow the instructions, easy

The 1.8 update is probably better than the 1.9 update, because the 1.9 update has an upscaling fault for 1080i. It's up to you to decide... and DO NOT install the American updates on a UK machine... use the UK versions.

The seating distance thing is quite annoying. Yeah it looks great from 20ft away.. so does my ex!!!. Grain is the best way to see that you are getting a good HD image. Use it to callibrate your equipment...

Re: Regrets on buying a UK ps3 ?
The PS2 was a servicable, but unpectacular DVD player.
In comparison the PS3 is an excellent BD player.
My only 'regret' (and it's not even really that) is that I was unaware that 1.1 (as I now know it) was not on the PS3 (or any other BD player, for that matter), and that it might not be upgradeable.
However, I think I'd probably have still bought it anyway.
Not being able to play Region A releases is a pain. Fortunately, the number of Region A coded titles unavailable here is small, and most of them end up with a UK releases pretty soon anyway. The biggest pain is actually having to check before buying.

IMO it also depends on which sd dvd's you are also going to watch from it - if any, if you have a alrge uk sd dvd collection get the uk PS3 - as you will not be able to play them on a us model, if you have mostly imported sd dvd's you prob can't watch them on a uk machine........ I think thats right....

Good point. Also , I have noticed some BluRay titles in Blockbuster. Presumably some of these titles will only play on a UK spec Bluray player ?

As far as i am aware... Exactly ??
Now we have a uk PS3 for the most of us it is prob the best bet - especially for peace of mind and warranty issues....., most early adopters who had large import collections of sd dvd's imported a US Ps3 last year........
