Been happening practically every day now my internet just decides to not work and the ready light on the modem just sits there flashing. Phoned Virgin up last week when it happened and they said they were "upgrading the service" can't see them still doing that a week later. Anyone know what I can do about this?

Phone them up again and let them know that you've had an intermittant connection since last week and each time the connection drops, the ready lights starts flashing.
They should book an engineer for you and refund the cost of the call.
The first thing you want is....... a refund of the month concerned. The secon dis for the phone call you made.
:devil:The upgrading will go on forever.
Welcome to hell.

I had a similar problem, for ages the connection dropped and I had to keep unplugging the modem and rebooting my PC. Made several phone calls to the tech support, no help at all!!
Anyway decided to look through my PC's hardware one day, looked at device manager and saw yellow exclamation marks next to my ethernet card, I updated the driver and hey presto the connection hasn't dropped once since.

I had been having the same problems, connection dropping for different periods during the day.
I called their woderful help desk and the first call lasted 21 mins. During this call I was told that it was XP's firewall that was the problem, either that or AVG anti virus. I was told to uninstall them and put in Virgins own. I knew it wouldnt work but I had to try anyway. Guess what - it didnt work.
I called them again, this time I was told it was my browser and I was to uninstall / reinstall that.... guess what it didnt do any difference.
I called again and after going thru the ususal speel I was told i didnt have a network card in my pc...... strange since Ive always beem using the same pc, was looking at device manager and the card was enabled etc.
Anyway 2 days later my internet was back to normal.... Now Im fighting to get nearly £10 of call charges refunded.
