Re: Which soundcard for active speakers?
For somebody who I assume is going to be spending large amounts of money on sound, which is going to be ouputting via a PC, may I suggest a lot more research before any purchases are made. Don't just rely on answers to this thread.
The whole sound thing, is massively complex, be aware of buying into things that in day to day living, really won't make much difference. Always try efore you buy. Preferably try different set up, and adjust one item at a time, so that you really get a feel for what changing one item will do.
You say there are active and extrememly high quality. Thats fine, but why are you choosing them, apart from there apparent high quality, over other speakers. What environment will they be in? Will there be sound proofing? Will there be calibration of sound to your preferred seating position? You say DVD and CD, are you sure that they won't be playing any other formats? Blu-ray or HD-DVD shortly? If you are spending all that money of the speakers, why not invest in HD HTPC? Sound systems which are good for music may not neccesarliiy be good DVD's. Sound is generally stereo, so speakers are bought and set up accordingly. DVD's and home movie systems tend to have surround sound systems for the DTS & surround sound output. Are you models 2 speaker or more (my owrk restrctions won't let me view the site)?Have you listened to any Hi-Def systems recently? You say they have zlr-analog input. Does that require your PC to output sound via an AMP?
Your post made me think of all these questions, I just want to check that you have considered them also.
