Removing expired contract connecions from the green box.

Every year we loose our coax ( TV internet) connections for around 10 mins.
I later found out this was because of the "cable guys" removing the disconnected connections from the hole in the wall green box.

I noticed this has not happened for a year or so and anyway was curious. I by chance saw the green box which was opened by the engineer and bloody hell.

I must of seen around 50 2 way splitters and around 200 extra connections.
I asked the engineer why they don't remove the old connections clean up the box and then install an amp? He laughed and said it was not his job. He simply picked up a split coax and SPLIT IT AGAIN . The signal was split 4 ways. I really don't know what cable are up to but they really need to take their head out of the sand and listen to their customers.

I remember a little while ago I wanted to add another number to my house ( two phones) and was told their was not enough room in the box? This was when their were only 50 coax connections on the panel now bloody hell I think the national grid is fed from my green box.

I have a 20 meg connections and have had endless problems with it. The connections has yet to hit anywhere near the 20 Meg mark in fact I am lucky to hit a meg downloading!

I'd like to say the reading this surprised me, but unfortunately it doesn't. They really don't give a monkey about doing anything above the bare minimum........in my limited experience, it must be said.

Re: Removing expired contract connecions from the green box.

Next time the guy comes by, you should ask him if he could please switch you to the most direct connection possible and hand him a 10.

Of course, if he's only there once a year, you might be waiting a while to pull this off.

It won't solve the worlds problems, but it should solve yours

They switch off at the boxes now as a few years ago they would leave them on as you may not know this fact.....once switched on its always on.
