Ive been a Blueyonder and now virgin media subscriber for a while now, and recently a few of my mates have been offered lower subs for their packages as they where switching to sky.
I just have Broadband off them and have been always on 10mb and now 20mb, £35 and now £37 with no offers or reductions, so being a bit miffed i rang them up and explained i was happy with speed e.c.t but i thought it rather unfair im paying full whack and others are not!
To cut a long story short my account was terminated with no offer to persuade me to stay with them.... it was simply 'Thank you goodbye and have a nice day'.
So thats another £37 Richard can kiss goodbye to!
With customer sevice/policy like that i bet Sky are quaking in the boots! :suicide:

No one should phone up looking for a deal unless they are really prepared to cancel their services. I had TV, BB and phone and phoned up to get the 3 for £30 deal as they were doing XL pack ( I had the starter pack). CS told me that it was only for new or people adding an extra service. I did point out that I had been with them for years, no difference. I called the following day to cancel the TV on point of principal. I tried as soon as I was off the phone with the CS but the cancellations dept were closed (well it was a Sunday). I was prepared to cancel it no problem. The retentions department told me that it was open to existing customers and switched me over to it.

Lies Lies and more Lies!!
Thats all I get from VirginMedia.
I have rang three times and asked for a manager to speak to. They have told me three time that one will call me. Guess what!
Rang up for the Primary and Secondary DNS Server IP addresses. To be told we will not give them out to the public. When i explained that unless I setup an internal static IP in my router I cant get my 20mb/s that I pay for I was told to ring the £1 a minute line. Strange as its nothing to do with my PC just Virgin lies yet again.
Good news got my BT line in and BEBroadband booked for a fortnights time.
When I rang I was taunted with you will come back to us as we are the quickest. Well you might be Virgin for 25mins before your throttling kicks in and I get 4mb/s when paying for 20mb/s. Besides having to pay 25p/min for Virgins poor helpline was enough. The we will refund if its our fault is ********. Cowboys is the kindest word I have about Virgin.

I didnt call to just get a better deal, i called to see why some customers get preferential treatment and some do not!!
The fact that my broadband alone costs more than a lot of ppl's tv/phone/internet subs is irrelevant. My money will spend anywhere and the fact that they offer 20mb for 20mins before your throttled down to 5mb for the princely sum of £37 pm is quite laughable.
I would sooner pay £20 for a full 8mb (and get 8mb) from another provider, and with the change i can go down the pub! :smashin:

Exactly how much would you pay for a 25mins 20mb/s service and the rest of the time 4mb/s between 4pm-12pm? not a lot I bet!
Actually it is only 16mb/s not the 20mb/s advertised that I get. I can get 8mb/s for £10/month via Sky or upto 24mb/s unlimited download for £24/month from BeBroadband no where near >£30 that Virgin expect.

Probably because you only had the one service that they did cancel it rather than offer something.
Customers do not get preferential treatment, they just get bribed into staying:grin:

Thanks for the offer im sure if I'd posted here or looked around I could have found them but as it wasnt a problem for Telewest to give then to me so I didnt think Virgin would have tried to keep them secret.
I tried the no pay services first to be told if I had a fault then I had to ring the 25p/min pay line. told them it wasnt a fault but they wouldn't give them to me.Rang the 25p/min to be told its not policy to give them out but the £1/min guys will help. More money making schemes for the rip-off merchants. I cant stand the fact that they charge me 25p/min when I ring up with problems with their service, only to be told to 'reboot your modem'. Plus If I'm unlucky and get India I cant understand them as the line is terrible and the English barely decipherable. The 'we will refund' you line doesnt ring true as I proved when ringing and cancelling. The guy in retentions said the line and I then said that if that was true could he check the calls I made. When he did I had been charged. They cant get my bill right so god knows how I could trust them to refund call costs.
Enough is enough I'm getting a service thats worth £10/month and paying over £30/month. Plus they charge me to ring up!
