AVP700 problem

Hi everyone,

I bought a used AVP700. It works pretty good in analog mode. But I'm experiencing serious problems in the digital mode. As soon as I hook up a device in digital mode (which, if I get it right, makes use of the AVP700 converters which are probably better than those on the Denon and maybe the CD82) I have scrambled sound.
The problem appears on both the Denon and CD82.
I tried to change the cable : no improvement (but they're old coaxial cables. Maybe I should try a newer one ?)
Of course, I tried to change the connectors.
Don't have an optical cable, so could not try it.

I may add the following : if I hook up a headphone, I have the same result.

Infos if I press SAT + DVD are :
700 - 3.36
DSP - N/A

Could it be that the internal converters are blown ?

Any suggestions ?

Regards

Penguin Hifi

Re: AVP700 problem

Check to be sure all of the processing is set correctly. At one point my AVP700 was set to Dolby Pro Logic II, and this really screwed up the signal Dolby Digital signal.

Re: AVP700 problem

I had the same problem already twice on my AVP700. Just send it in for repair. There are quality issues with Arcam Electronic Equipment!

Re: AVP700 problem

Sounds like the well known power supply/diodes problem. It needs to be repaired by Arcam who will upgrade the required parts.

Happened to mine, and a few others on here too. I don't think it's a major repair, but I'm not sure what it would cost as mine was done under warranty.

Re: AVP700 problem

sounds like the faulty diode problem. They will fix under warranty and it requires replacing about 7 diodes.
