High guys. Ordered Virgin media M broadband a few weeks ago, installed it myself and the contract came through today, however they have decided to write on it £18 per month, rather than the £10 which I signed up for. So I get on the phone and seems they cocked it up and signed me up for the wrong deal and cant fix it as they have already billed me. So they are just going to credit me the extra money on my next bill, every few months. Now the problem is that the contract still says £18/month, and the lass on the phone said its fine, just sign it. Now I'm not exactly happy about this in the first place. Has this happened to anyone else, or do you all suggest I demand a new one with £10/month sent out as I am fully awear of the incompetancy of the billing department.

Secondly, now I'm not one to usually make a fuss about this sort of thing, but I would have been getting charged the full rate if I had not noticed, and I'm sure Virgin would never have said anything. Do I have the same right to charge Virgin an admin fee, in the same way that they would no doubt charge me if I made the same mistake. Its not as if the phone call to fix this whole thing was cheap either.

Cheers for your help guys.

Not sure you can get away with an Admin fee, but I would refuse to sign the contract until they send out a new one.

I wouldn't sign it unless they sent you written confirmation that the difference would be paid back every month. Otherwise, they could very well claim that you signed up with the £18 contract and they would be legally in the right (unless you have a recording or written documentation stating otherwise).

Similar overcharging/billing problem thing happened to me :( but during the end of the contract-each time you phone them up (takes 45mins for them to answer your call, if youre lucky) then they say the £10 month deal stopped as the end of the contract- they say some rubbish about reverting back to £18 ..which they dont even inform you about, then they say they cant credit this months but will credit you next month..but still on next bill NO credit applied...

its a total shambles to say the least. Why dont they just have £10 per month as the basic broadband deal & cut the waste of time/ overcharging/ messing customers about e.t.c??

As Im NOT a heavy downloader Im tempted to go on the three http://www.three.co.uk/personal/products_services_/mobile_broadband_/index.omp wireless broadband deal but Im not to sure how the downloads/ browsing is worked out.
