Just been reading about a new screen from Vutec called the SilverStar.
This flat, front-projection screen achieves high gain, high contrast, and color purity in ambient light. Available in gains of 4.5, 6.0 and 9.5. Sizes from 48” high to 96” wide. (60” x 120” available in August 2002) These screens can be multiplexed to form theater sized screens. Ideal for P.O.P., trade shows, visual merchandising, museums, airports and wherever your imagination can go. Picture detail jumps out at you because of the high gains. With this type of performance there is no need to reduce brightness in order to achieve high contrast and high black levels. There is minimal need for light control as it can be viewed with ambient lighting.
Anyone heard of this..............Gordon?
Was down at the Event 2.
If anyone needs any Vutec info just ask me.
It's my job to sort them out.

The Vutec screen material was tested alongside some others by Tryg over at avs:

A jolly good read with some interesting info.
Contrary to normal findings, Tryg states that the grey screens increase screendoor. I've only ever seen posts stating the reverse, and the pic he shows only shows vertical lines, and not the normal boxes we see with screendoor, so I'm not entirely convinced of what he's seeing there.

Thanks ReTrO
But I thought you were the Vutec rep????
I'm only looking for rough figure, as I reckon its away outside my budget anyway.
Brian
You'll be looking somewhere in the region of £2,500 to £3,000, to give you a rough price guide.
For more accurate pricing please consult your dealer, or I can point you in the direction of one if required.

Nick,
I think that shipping wont be cheap for that. It's a SOLID piece of plastic. Not rollable or foldable. If you email me or any other VuTec dealer ~9RetRo can give you a list, we can get a price.
Gordon
The Silverstar screens come shipped 'assembled' with their frames on, and also due to their 'solid' nature, as Gordon has pointed out, they tend to be quite large.
They come packed in a decent sized wooden 'pallet', for want of a better word, like a big flat box. Weighs a fair bit as you can imagine.
The board it is mounted on is some form of composite foam, which is lightweight and stiff, this it'self doesn't weigh too much. You then have a choice of two frames, a slim frame or a wide frame, both black velevt covered.
If you are looking for a price feel free to contact Gordon or your local AV/custom install dealer and I'll be more than happy to help you out.
You should be able to see more information on our website towards the end of this week and the starrt of next as I have been working on getting it all upto date, 4 hours today.
Either www.marata.co.uk or www.vutec.co.uk will get you there.
