Which Sat Nav for eveyday use... TomTom Go 910 or Garmin Nuvi 660 e.t.c

Hi, I need a Sat Nav for everyday use.

It will be used to visit 3-4 sites a day so must be reliable and easy to use.

Initially I was impressed by the TomTom Go 910, but have read many reports of its problems.

Other products I have begun to look at include the Garmin Navi series, but they seem to be roughly £100 more.

Is this justified, i.e. do you get what you pay for?

The 'text to speech' is important especially with the road names, but it will only be used within the UK so no need for European or USA maps.

The ones I am considering are the TomTom Go 910 & Garmin Nuvi 660 and above.

If you have got any of these let me know, as the TomTom Go 910 seems too good to be true at the price, but are the problems that severe?

Thanks

I've got a TT 910 and only had problems when I bought it as I didn't read the instructions when I got it and screwed up the whole unit. Once that was sorted and a replacement was sent out to it's worked fine.

Just (about 5 mins ago) added a load of new POI's to it.

I got the 910 due to it having the full USA maps on and I'm going to New England for a Month in Sept/Oct.

go for it or the TT One XL

I can thoroughly recommend the Garmin 670.
It comes with UK european and USA maps already installed.
It has Safety (Speed) Camera warning installed (free for 6 months)
Bluetooth capability if you have a suitable mobile phone.

I have used this Garmin in the USA, I.o.M, England and Wales this year and found it to function perfectly. A real test in New York City.

Log in your site addreses and save them in your 'Favourites' for future visits.

The Garmin 660 is the same as the 670 only it is without the USA maps and so it costs less.

I just bought the Nuvi 660 after considering that and the TT910.

Got my 660 for 320 quid on Tot Ct Road (internet best price i saw was 310) and saw the 910 on the net for 280, so only 30 - 40 quid difference.

When i read about the TT, it seemed to require a mobile phone hook up for traffic reports and also a subscription after a while (this may be incorrect, i read through quickly). The garmin uses an FM aerial, with no addtional costs.

The smaller size and weight, added to the occasional report of the 910 freezing, pushed me towards the Garmin.

So far, so good
