Upscaling to a 480p PJ?

Hi, I have just bought a second hand Pioneer 868 AVi DVD player which can upscale to 1080i - but will I use this function for my Optoma H30a PJ which only has 480p res?

What would be the settings to use because I know little about how to get the best performance other than sitting and fiddling with it for a day or so - sometimes having an idea beforehand can help!!

Cheers

Re: Upscaling to a 480p PJ?

Although on the face of it feeding the pj with 480p would seem the most logical choice it isn't necessarily that simple.

You pj has a resolution of 852x480 but ntsc discs have a resolution of 720x480 and Pal dvd's of 720x576 so some upscaling in one axis would be required so a lot will depend on what the dvd player is outputting when set to 480p and whether it or the pj are better at scaling.

Best thing to do is just to try all the different options and use the one you find best for you.

Ok, will guess that the 480p setting is probably right but will have a fiddle to check all the same - cheers
