need code for new remote control

I have a panasonic TU-CT30 set top box and a universal remote control to replace the original one that died. You can programme in 999 codes for this remote and I do not know the code needed. Does anyone know where I can find it? It is cheaper to throw the box away that get a replacement from Panasonic.

All universal remotes come with a booklet of codes needed to operate various types of equipment.
It's a case of looking in the booklet under Set-top boxes and see if Panasonic is listed...if you don't have the booklet report back with the make and model of the remote or just Google it.

Re: need code for new remote control

The set top box is not listed in the codes given and they say just keep pressing the channel plus button until you find it. My fingers got tired after the first 50 times and google was no real help.

Are there codes listed for any STBs?

In that case you'll just need to keep doing it the hard way with the unknown code search method I'm afraid.

I have had a similar problem with one of my sons Bush STB. It seems that nobody seems to take account of RC's for these units.

Most universal remotes have codes for Satt/Cable and DVB STBs...about 50% (or so it seems going by the number of times I've set them up) of DVB receivers use the same Vestel designed box...so try all the codes listed.

Thanks JayCee have tried that, I have 2 what I believe are Vestel boxes and the remotes are not interchangeable and neither work with my sons Bush despite one of the remotes looking identical.

Re: need code for new remote control

Either buy a universal remote that offers a code update service by phone or else buy a specific copy (or original) from a company that specialises. Here's one that I've used in the past:
http://www.samedayremote.com
You could also try CPC in Preston or, if all else fails, Wallis remotes in London will make one from your broken one.

Re: need code for new remote control

The remote for the TUCT30 is indeed pricey at £30-48

http://shop.panasonic.co.uk/icat/tuct30

The remotes for their dvd recorders are only half this price. Very strange.
