returning domain file prob`

Hi guys very new to Macs so i hope you can help.
My friend has been working on a website via iweb and he found out how to send the file to me so i too could work on it .( changing the domain.site name to domain ) which worked fine not when i did the same thing to him so he could work on it the file sent which took awhile for him to recieve when he clicked on it after changing file name as i did the file wouldnt open and i could still open the file at my end and work on site .... any clues why it didnt work when i returned the domain file .
