Question Samsung 40/42" Plasma or LCD?

I am looking for a 40/42" TV in the £700ish price bracket and have read good reviews on the Samsung plasma. However when I search Pricerunner I am just bamboozled by models and can't work out which is the best/latest model.

Also I would like advice as to whether plasma or CRT (sorry I mean LCD!) would be best. It seems I will get a 42" as opposed to 40" with plasma for similar money but am a bit concerned about glare as it will be next to the window, even though Samsung have 'Ultra FilterBright' screens.

Any help with best models would be much appreciated.

Re: Samsung 40/42" Plasma or LCD?

To be honest, CRT is dead. You'll have real trouble finding one now, although there may be 1 or 2 stuffed in the back of the showrooms. Flat is king!

I personally believe plasma is better than LCD, and have always had plasma (LCD flamewar starts ). Plasma screens have better colour reproduction, better contrast, and are much more filmlike in their delivery of an image. LCD's tend to look overprocessed with a flat image to me. Plasma screens *can* suffer from screen burn whereas LCD's generally don't, although if you careful running in a plasma for the first 100 hours or so, you should be fine.

If you after the latest 42" Samsung plasma, that would probably be the PS42Q97HDX that's getting all the good reviews. It's the one I'm planning to get actually, and the screen shows hardly any reflection at all, even in direct sunlight (apparently).
