JPEG Playback Suitability?

I'm looking to purchase something portable for playback of JPEG pics. Looked at digital picture frames but these have limited capacity. A portable DVD with JPEG capability seems the answer but do they all work well with CDR JPEG images? Also do they all have slideshow playback? We have a Panasonic home DVD recorder which is supposedly JPEG compatible but without slideshow function is pretty useless.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks
Dave
