Thumbs up Help needed for Presentation for projector training

Hi All

I was just wondering if you can all help me put something together for a power point presentation to help everyone see the advantages/disadvantages of PJ v's Large screen plasma & LCD screens.

Personally I have decided to do it for training at work (retail store) where very few have any knowledge of PJ's and find it amazing how they think that LCD/Plasma is the only way forward!

TIA

Re: Help needed for Presentation for projector training

That's a toughie...

How about showing them an image of the interior of a cinema with a movie running, and then an image of a lounge with an LCD on the wall? If you use the right images the impact of the big screen should give them the idea of how movies should be seen.

They're meant to be large and have a visual impact that Coronation Street on a plasma just doesn't give you. How would Independance day look as a scope movie against Corry which will fill the 16:9 screen if they're both shown on the same small screen?

Try to show a dedicated room at first, then show a lounge that looks like a lounge (and not a bit of a mish mash) with a plasma on the wall. Then show it with a screen that's come down in front of the plasma with a movie playing. If you can show that it can be made to work well in a normal living room without making the room look horrible then you have more of a chance of selling the idea to them.

You could mention that a lot of people are now converting their garages into living space, and some of those are making them into dedicated cinema rooms. You can show some examples from this very forum (with the owners permission of course).

Projectors are becoming cheaper and more common place, and for the same outlay as a plasma, you can have a huge image on your wall instead. With the right set up it can be a seamless transition form tv to big screen.

You could also mention seating distances so that they can see what kind of screen sizes in the home will give the same field of view as if they were sat at the cinema (I can provide that if you want it).

Those are my initial ideas, but I'm sure there are a lot better ones others here can suggest.

Gary

Yeah totally agree with all those points.

I have found a few points for criteria... to establish the needs of a user, these will be the selling price points.

Brightness & Contrast Ratio
Resolution
Data and Video Inputs
Size, weight - Portability
Cost - Affordability

Now I am going to put together some LCD Vs DLP points.
