Congratulations to PeteB_2000 for winning June’s competition (on the theme of Britishness) with his line of five traditional red telephone boxes
Pete’s choice of theme for July is……. Opposites.
Interesting choice of theme, one that isn’t simply black and white when you think a little deeper
I'll try and keep the thumbnail page up to date as and when entries come in.
Please make yourself familiar with the rules before posting, any questions pm/email me
Gordon @ is once again offering his service for a free ISF calibration, terms and conditions apply, see below
are once again supplying a 10x8" print of the winning shot
And of course the winner has the honour of choosing the following months theme
Competition ends Saturday 28th July at noon, or thereabouts
Terms and conditions for ISF Calibration prize:
Prize: 1 x ISF calibration

Re: July 2007 Competition - Launch and Discussion
I am finding it quite hard to distinguish between an opposite and something that is just a different type of the same thing. For example a "goth" and "chav". Not really opposites, just 2 forms of the same thing.

Re: July 2007 Competition - Launch and Discussion
Hmmmm....opposites. Very interesting.
Digital Grin has a running set of competitions with this sort of thing, where the theme is something like "smooth or rough" or "curved or angular" etc. Worth a look for some inspiration probably.

Re: July 2007 Competition - Launch and Discussion
thanks for the , didnt want to take it down a particular path, wanted to leave it WIDE open, which should hopefully encourage a real diverse set of entries

I entered my 'soft' entry before the month started. As far as i'm aware as long as the photograph was made after the launch of the comp it's OK.

Good theme. This one really is open to interpretation.

Re: July 2007 Competition - Launch and Discussion
I see all the pics each month and am amazed at the quality. Honestly what can the starter create with more of a point and shoot camera. I have a sony f717 I think is the model and it has a few options but nothing like a DSLR.
Any recomendations to get the best out of it?
Martin

Re: July 2007 Competition - Launch and Discussion
I would say most of the winning shots have been more about the interpretation of the theme rather than purely technical aspects. You certainly don;t need a fancy DSLR to do well.
I would just fire away and see what happens.
