Which of these 2 laptops please?

I am looking at these 2 laptops…but really unsure as to what is the best option. Ideally I wanted a core 2 duo, but the core duo is cheaper, with double the RAM.

305-N07643 (Home) - £434.82 or less delivered
Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor T2130 (1.86GHz,533MHz,1MB L2 cache)
Genuine Windows Vista Business - English
15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display
2048MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
160GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
Intel® Media Accelerator 950 Graphics Up to 256MB shared graphics memory- no upgrade available
Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including software
6 cell Lithium-Ion Battery (53 Whr)
56.6k V.92 Capable Internal Modem & Adapter - UK
Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini-PCI Card (for Dual-Core Processors)
McAfee® Security Centre 8.0 - 36 Month Protection - English
Microsoft® Works 8.0 – English
£436

Or

Toshiba A100-02L
Intel Core 2 Duo T5300 Processor 1.73GHz, 533MHz FSB, 2MB Cache
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
1024MB RAM
120GB Hard Drive
DVD ReWriter MultiDrive
15.4" Widescreen Display
128MB Intel GMA 950 Graphics
Wireless Enabled
Up to 3.4 Hours Battery Life
£500

Obviously the Dell has 36months warranty, an extra 1GB of RAM, and is £60 cheaper.
But the Toshiba has a core 2 duo…

Will the core 2 duo come into its own and offer significantly better performance? its not needed for anything heavy, just I Tunes, web, word, and some semi-frequent video editing.
Or am I better off just pocketing the cash?
I know that I could upgrade the Toshiba ram later on, but I cant see the Dell having its CPU ripped out and upgraded if things need to be improved?

Thanks

Re: Which of these 2 laptops please?

Steer clear of Vista Business in the Dell, it's not what you want for home use.
The Core2Duo is a better choice, but weighing up the extra, rest of the spec and your intended use I'd say go for the Dell if Vista HP doesn't add too much to the cost.

Have a look here to see the differences

Re: Which of these 2 laptops please?

Yeah pentium branding coming back abit. Its a budget processor. Pretty good but the Core 2 duo on the Toshiba is better. However they only provide 1GB of RAM unlike Dell.

Vista business is better to have then Home Premium if its the same price. Home premium has what? MS's Home media system? Which is pretty much useless unless you want to buy everything MS.

Re: Which of these 2 laptops please?

After all that I ended up going to the horror shop that is PC World...
Using the collect @ store service online..
Bought an Acer AS5633

Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 Processor 1.68GHz
667MHz
2MB Cache
1GB RAM
80GB Hard Drive
DVD Super Multi Dual Layer Drive
15.4" TFT Widescreen
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
224MB Intel 950 GMA Graphics
1 year FREE warranty

For just £429 So got it cheaper than the Dell, and with the processor that I wanted. Admittedly, Its only 80GB, but thats more than is needed still, and the 1GB Ram can be added to easy enough if ever required
