3 from tonight

Took a stroll along the beach with a firend tonight - he wanted to make some fluffy water pebble shots Resisted the temptation quite well, but was overcome in the end. The trouble with living near the sea is the constant pull to make photograhs of it. Maybe I should move to Milton Keynes

I'll spare you the really gratuitous ones. Anyway, came away with a camera full - here are 3 clickable ones

Comments, criticism and ridicule welcome

MEDIC!!!

Great shots, and you seem to get some good light and skies around your way.

Really loving number 2, with the puddles and the lines leading you through the shot, good stuff

Re: 3 from tonight

I think the last one stands out only because the sky is amazing..all excellently composed and the lighting as Giz has mentioned, lends itself to a really nice set mate.

Re: 3 from tonight

WOW.

These are amazing Liquid....you really do have a great skill in making something so dull (such as pebbles) look amazing.

My favourite has to be the 2nd one...Good enought to wall.

Nice work Liquid101

Re: 3 from tonight

I prefer the first, there's a good balance of the different elements and the lighting is great.

And I'm not just saying that because it's the one with the most pebbles in!

2,3 are super. My wife loves the sea as she grew up beside it in Montreal, then living in Caen for several years. One day I am sure we'll end up living by the seaside....and I'm looking forward to it. Great pics!

Re: 3 from tonight

#2 is tops for me. Really well composed, great light, reflections in the puddles are ace, and nice sea. What time of day was this? I presume the sun had just gone down?

#1 - lighting on the boards is lovely & warm, and the composition is good, but the pebbles being in shade means some life is drawn out of the pic

#3 - nice sky, but it's all a bit distant and the lead line of the beach to the town doesn't quite work as it seems to start too far away - maybe better with a wider angle to get more foreground in whilst still keeping the sky?

Re: 3 from tonight

No2 has really captured the errosive power of the sea. My fav of the bunch. The wetness of the rock/concrete is beautiful.

The second was around 10.30pm the light was perfect for this kind of shot, very soft. I ended up getting very wet feet, got caught by a large wave which soaked me almost up the knee.

For the first one the light was going so fast, I actually missed the best of it. The window for that shot was probably only a minute or so, I managed to knock out a couple of quick shots, but missed it dragging along the pebbles. I'm looking forward to seeing if my friend got anything better. I fear we're going to have almost identical shots.

The last one was just a snap really, I was waiting for my mates to finish his 25 second exposure, and was perched on a wall with the 20mm. If i'd had time i'd have thought about it more.

Thanks for the comments all

Re: 3 from tonight

Nice set

The sky in 3 is absolutely gorgeous I know it was only a quick snap but it would have been nice to see it like Tobers suggested. Matbe if you'd done a soft pebble shot with the promenade and then that sky over head? (Have you decided whether or not to get an UWA yet?)

I think #2's a gorgeous image but the rocks (bottom 2/3's) of the image is just a little too grey for my liking. If you'd somehow managed to get some shining orange reflections from the sky on the wet rocks the image would have been absolutely stunning.

I always like looking at your sea photo's so no need to resist the pull on my account

Re: 3 from tonight

Oh yes. I like the colour of the boards in the first one. I like everything about the second one: sky, water, texture, puddles & lead in lines! Excellent.

Cheers.

Re: 3 from tonight

#2 for me mate, a very fine photgraph indeed. Agree with Tobers about the third, still a cracking sky though!
