Messing with Borders

Hi ya

A mate mine spilt up from his wife about 5 years ago and has been living with his mum and since. Anyway last week his put an offer in for a flat and it has been agreed. He always takes a look at my pictures that I have had printed, and is always asking about have some blown up to A3 or A2 size, and keeping as a picture.

Well if he ends up with the flat was thinking off maybe getting him one for a moving in presant.

A lot of you would off seen this picture already but I know this is one he likes, so going to have a mess about with borders to see if the picture looks better.

Here one I have done.

Strobe I can try and scan it over to you or if I get some time tomorrow I can type it up here, don't think it will take me long.

Re: Messing with Borders

Hi ya

Still messing with them.

This is how I done it. I used Elements 5

First of I used the eraser tool and picked a heavy set brush in the drop down menu. With the brush I went around the edge. I played around with the size until I got the look that I wanted, if I got it wrong, the undo helped me.

Next I added a border. Go to select>All. Then Edit >Stroke(outline)selection.

In the dialogue box, make sure Inside is selected. I chose a width of 20 pixels, but this is something you can play with.
Click on the color box to call up the colour picker. Here you can pick you colour for the border. I used the dropper tool, , you do this by moving you curser over the image.
Once this is all done click ok and ok again in the stoke dialogue box to confirm the border. Finish this bit by going to Sleect>Deselect.

Next you need to crete a new document

Go to file>new>Blank file Here I went for the A3 document and made sure 300 pixels per inch was selected. click ok

Next I drag my border image onto my blank document. I used the grid and rule to decide were the image was to go.

Next I added a tittle, using the Type tool, using the font and colour I wanted.

After I was happy with everything, I finish of by going to layers>Flatten Image then saved.

Hope this helps, not the best at writing these out and I am sure there are better ways off doing it than this. Any questions just ask. I am sure someone else will answer

Cheers Holo
