Roland Edirol R-09 Digital Recorder review

Reviewed by Phil Hinton
If you are looking for a mobile recorder with everything you could possibly need to achieve your end goals, the R-09 is a fine, small and technically sound unit that will do your projects the justice they deserve – recommended.

Re: Roland Edirol R-09 Digital Recorder review

Sadly no S/PDIF i/o like many of these ultra portable devices. I wanted this so ended up with a much more expensive Marantz PMD671, not as portable but has Dig i/o.

Smile Re: Roland Edirol R-09 Digital Recorder review

Hi Phil - I read your reply with interest - I have a question I hope you might answer! - I want to make audio visual presentations on my Mac/PC. I use Audacity and Audition software. I am looking for a recorder to make voiceovers and to record external sounds.

One of main things I would need is for it be mic that will USB in to my MAC/PC so I can speak in to it directly - rather than have to record on to SD card and then input to computer.

i have been looking at the Roland Edirol R-09 Digital Recorder - and the Zoom H2 .

Can you or any other kind person recommend one over the other please?

Thanks in anticipation!

Re: Roland Edirol R-09 Digital Recorder review

Have been using the R09 for some time now, and I'm mostly satisfied. But I would like to set the autonaming of files to something else than R09_0001, R09_0002 and so on.
Is it possible to do so? Can not find anyting about it in the manuals or in the latest firmwareupgrade (1.30)

Glad if anybody could help
