Help!
I switched to mac about 9 months ago and am very happy.
I use Mail as my e-mail program, and I have a .Mac account to host my mail.
I've used it daily for 9 months and everythings been OK, until Friday.
I can't send e-mail from my Mail application.
(I can receive OK in Mail)
(I can send and receive fine via
www.mac.com on the internet from my mac)
When i try and send I get an error message that server smtp.mac.com is not available/not working.
I spent some time on the phone to Applecare who advised me to set up a new user account and e-mail, which did not help.
I then went to the apple store in Brent Cross, as soon as I booted up the machine, it instantly accessed the stores wireless connection and sent out my mail! The 'genius' I spoke to said it was a problem with my ISP and set up an additional server for my out going mail, smtp.orange.net but when I got home it didn't work!
I've looked on the net and found recommendations to change the port number from 25 to 587, but this also did not help.
My ISP is Orange, has anyone else had this problem???
