Jammed sahara screen

Is there any non destructive way of unjamming a sahara manual pull down screen? When it arrived one of the end caps wasn't on. Put that back on, thought everything was tickety boo and stuck it on the wall to find that it was totally jammed I am assuming the mechanism that keeps it down when you want it down has permanently engaged itself so you can't move the screen at all. Is this a common occurrence with these screens?

always check your screen pulls out and goes back up before starting fixing it to the wall
