websites with slightly older stock hence cheaper please...
hi i was wondering if there is anywhere where older makes of speakers can be bought. I mean, what happens to the thousands of speakers not sold ? last years models ?
i remember in the back of what hi-fi there used to be a place that sold loads of going to be replaced equipment (brand new of course) at silly small prices.
i.e £800 list mission speakers (and there sourround equivelent) for £400, £350 etc..
what happens to all the not sold speakers, amps etc.. i mean you could get an Yamaha that was like a DSPA1 for £500 at one point, new, but just as the lastest range of Yammys were coming out they had some last ones in stock this was a £2000 amp and could easliy pass clean audio from the 5-6channel output of a bluray player
any sites ?

I think you'll find most 'quality' hi-fi is made in very low numbers because they are only small companies who make it and money in the bank is better than money tied up in stock. I 've always bought stuff that was on a customer order type basis so other than your Richer Sound type store I think you'll come up with a blank.

I agree. There are still online dealers who seem to specialise in cheap 'not quite the latest' gear, but the best way is to pump the item into Google and see what crops up. Surfing dealer websites for ex-demo stuff normally throws up some old stock and a certain amount of end of line gear turns up on a well known auction website. Sevenoaks Sound & Vision for instance doesn't get a lot of hits via Google, but it's worth having a root around their site to see what's going.
I picked up an unused single M&K Xenon 26 for £100 (RRP £200) by doing this.
