Ever replaced a broken banana speaker post?

Morning,

I've got a pair of old Jamo Concert II speakers that I want to use as fronts for the forthcoming telly/AV set up (wife permitting!). I've broken off one of the banana plug binding posts at the rear of the speaker. Doing a bit of rummaging on Google I've found that its relatively easy to find a replacement post but what I'm struggling with is how do I get the back of the plate off?

Has anyone done anything like this, any suggestions on where to start?

All the best, DBB.

More often than not you have to go in from the front. Take the bass unit out and have a look inside the cabinet.

Wandered round to Maplin at luncho and asked the bloke in there. He said in through the front too. He had the replacement binding posts - but suggested I exercise extreme caution... I think he could tell I was pretty much out of my depth!

Mmm...

Are there screws on the back plate that the terminal posts are on? If the screws are there unscrew them and pop the plate out, then you will have access to the terminal post. I replaced a 4 on the Mission speakers I used to have with no experience and to be honest it wasn't difficult. A flat stable surface is required and only remove the screws that are holding the plate to the box.

I've just checked my current set (see sig) and the screws are in the terminal post plate as well. I think it would be very strange to have to remove a bass driver on the front to replace a terminal post on the back especially if there are screws on the plate.
