Are sat navs any good and how much for a hal

Sorry i posed a thread in the Motroing section as i didn't know there was a section just for sat navs.
I was thinking of getting one and want and want one that tells me when approaching speed cameras etc. What should i look for when biuying one, how much for a half decent one and are they easy to set up and use?
