Are car Satellite navigations any good and which ones are decent?

I am thinking of buying a Car Satellite Navigation, are they any good? I would like a touchscreen one and one that informs me of any speed cameras near by.
Which one would you lot recomend going for and how much are they for a half decent one?

Garmin and Tom Tom tend to be the ones that are most recommended.
Price depends upon what spec you want, UK or European maps etc.
Try these sites:

Halfords and JL have a good range as well.

Also you should remember that satnav systems are designed to take you where you don't know how to get to.
They don't know that the local main road is a pain to turn right onto and they don't know the best short cuts (yet).

It drives me nuts seeing people complain that their systems take them a bad way on a route they know!

In the end you choice will be a personal one - go to a shop try the interfaces out see what you think. TomTom are ok got the wife one, but in my opinion for positional accuracy the car manufacture OEM systems still have the edge.

I got the Garmin 310 Deluxe in the end which I am happy with as if I miss a turning it gives me alternative route.

Re: Are car Satellite navigations any good and which ones are decent?

I have had a play with the 310 and I really like it.
Easy to use
Gives alternaive route if you miss a turn
Voice is clear
Easy to bluetooth my phone to the sat nav and it copied all my numbers et to the sat nav
Easy to update
Small making it easy to fit in your pocket

It has everything but I wish I went for the 6600 model because it calls the streets names when you turn left etc but halfords had it for £400 while I have seen it on line for £310 only £40 more than the 310 deluxe model I bought.
