Smokin Aces = Error 408bc504
Just wondering if anyone has experienced the above error code when watching Smokin Aces - around chapter 16 just after the bloke carries the hit-lady down the stairs. It's the first time I've experienced any sort of playback issue on my XE1, is it a common problem with this title, any coincidence that it's an Universal flipper? I've already emailed Toshiba UK and will be getting in contact with my supplier but just wanted some input from others who may or may not have had an issue with this title. Thanks.

I did a search for this error in this forum and got a couple of results. I then did a search in the HD-DVD forum and there are quite a few threads. Here's an example.

I did carry out a search before starting this thread and came across that thread amongst a few others.
What I really want to know here is if anyone who actually has this title (the combo version) had success playing it without any issues and what player was used. Is it happening with only a few discs or is it widespread? I need some ammunition before returning it to my supplier.
It's a shame really, despite a few bad reviews I was actually rather enjoying this film until that dreaded moment.

Had the same problem on the E1, contact Tosh and they told me to contact the disc supplier. Sent mine back, twice, the third disc worked on the second attempt. It seems to play fine since.

Interesting that the third replacement disc worked, did the problem with freezing occur at around the same chapter on each disc?
It seems Toshiba are aware of the problem discs, here's the response I got today:

My supplier has told me to send the copy back for a replacement. Hope I don't have to repeat this process because it's already starting to annoy me.

Well the 1st two discs wouldnt load at all, just got this error at the start up or the message saying "Disc is not in the DVD Format"!!
I cant remember where the third disc froze the first time, but reloaded and seems to work fine now.
Thats pretty much the same info I got from Tosh, although I didnt want to go via Uni as I didnt know how long that would take.

Firmware 2.0 has just sorted the playback issue, the disc now works perfectly.
After all that....

Just had this problem occur halfway through 300 combo hddvd. Reckon I should send it back and get the BD version instead? This the 1st time that anything like this has occurred with any disc.
