Electric vs Manual

Are there any advantages/disadvantages between the two apart from ease of use? i.e. keeping the screen smooth etc?

Re: Electric vs Manual

Some manual screens are more liekly to suffer from being streched over time and thus devolp ribbing and curling.

Re: Electric vs Manual

You can get a tensioned electric screen which is supposed to keep the screen surface flat. I don't know if there are manual tensioned screens.

Re: Electric vs Manual

Hi Jonstone,
There's advantages and dissadvantages.
The main advantage a manual screen has over an electric screen is the size of the case but there's also the maintenance/access factor and the speed in using.
The obvious benefit of electric screens vs manual screens is the button control and the possibility of one button for both projector and screen (12v or IR triggers).
As Rich2000 said, manual screens, due to the fact your pulling down from the centre of the bar/surface, are more prone to ripples commmonly 'V' ripples. Electric screens do not suffer the same stress therefore may stay flatter longer.
Hope this helps.
