Sentana Sports - Freeview - Card = HELP?!

Hello

I have a hitachi PD9700 tv and ordered Sentana yesterday. Sentana advisor asked me if my tv had the common interface which I confirmed it does and they said that is fine, it will work.

Card came today and it looks as if I need something called a cam. Card goes in cam and then cam goes in common interface - is this correct or can I get this to work without cam?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you'll need the CAM as well; you buy it from Setanta. I had to get one for my Panasonic TV when I subscribed. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings

Thinking about signing up to Setanta now, seems a good thing with the all the sports they keep on winning. Liverpool FC TV is another one coming soon.

I'll need a CAM as well, can't find them any cheaper than what Setanta are selling them for.

Re: Sentana Sports - Freeview - Card = HELP?!

I have a panasonic lxd70 with built in freeview. I am thinking of ordering sentana sports , i was under the impression once i order they just turn on the channel (like tevelision x ) , i was not aware of needing any extra equipment or cards. My tv has no card slots !

Can anyone clarify this for me ?

You need a CAM whch the viewing cards slots into. This then goes in to the common interface slot.

This weekend is my 1st weekend of Setanta and I lose the bloody channels from Beacon Hill! lol

So there's no way to get it on a MCE PC?

Re: Sentana Sports - Freeview - Card = HELP?!

Any DTT receiver which had TopUp TV had a viewing card slot in it. This slot was the receivers CAM. The card plugs into this CAM.

To watch TopUp TV or Setanta Sports you need a CAM and card.

Most IDTVs have a CI slot for a CAM to plug into - but the CI slot will not accept a card, just the CAM.

The CAMs are quite easy to get on Ebay - but don't get one until you know that you can use it.

Smile Re: Sentana Sports - Freeview - Card = HELP?!

Hi This cam things seems a common prob here and unfortueatley I am going to add to it. I have a Samsung LE32R41BD TV with freeview and a common interface. I also fancy having Setanta for this football season and need to know if any cam will do or must it be from Setanta. Plus what would be a good target price for a cam.
Any help much appreciated..Thanks in advance.

Re: Sentana Sports - Freeview - Card = HELP?!

i've got the same tv, and also a topfield pvr which has card slots too, i'm gonna bite the bullet and go for setanta this week, mainly for conference coverage, but am ****** off that we have to fork out £30 for CAM and a tenner just for privilege of letting them send us the signal, what a rip off!!

heard on another forum that if you say you're a yorkshire or clydesdale bank customer you'll get first two months for £1 each then £9.99, and they may waive the connection fee too, no proof needed, just say you've seen the offer with your bank statement etc

Cool Re: Sentana Sports - Freeview - Card = HELP?!

Hi I hear the connection fee is not charged if you join on line and also those who have a go to them about the charge often get it waived anyway. The £30 cam charge is a pain..looking to get round it but no luck so far.

Re: Sentana Sports - Freeview - Card = HELP?!

On this topic does anyone know where to get a CAM in the shops, or is it going to just be easier to get the one directly from Setanta?
